Statue of Memento Park Budapest

More information

After the fall of communism every town in Hungary was left with the much hated reminders of that era: the propaganda statues. In most cases these were pulled down and destroyed but fortunately an enterprising artist collected a batch of them together and preserved them in a park on the outskirts of Budapest. There are now statues of Lenin, Marx, and Engels, and several Hungarian Communist leaders. The park was designed by Hungarian architect, Ákos Eleőd, who won the competition announced by the Budapest General Assembly (Fővárosi Közgyűlés) in 1991.
